A question for the group: Do we know when Erin's birthday is? Any speculation would be appreciated. I'm guessing summer of 1950.
Peg was "8 months pregnant" in the May before BJ was drafted -- he says this in the ep about their anniversary.
If you divide the series into quarters, and the war into corresponding quarters (remember algebra?), then Trapper was there for June 1950 to early 51. Going by the weather in "Welcome to Korea," no earlier than March 51. BJ arrived for 51, 52, and 53. (Assuming the show starts at the begginning of the war, or nearly so.) The war ended in July of 53.
So Peg was pregnant from 49-50, when BJ was drafted, then he did six months of training, and that puts him in Korea in the beginning of 51. (So BJ was in training for like, 2/3 of the time Trapper was at the 4077th. That's a little funny to think about, like BJ was waiting in the wings for all of S2.)
Did we ever hear BJ give a more specific day or month than what I'm proposing here?
Obv, I need this for a fic.
Thanks, Group.

(And, re: your room...it depends: do you prefer the sky, the water, or the land? *g*)

Date: 2010-04-13 02:40 am (UTC)Sorry, but i just can't see my Miss Erin as a cancer. My girl loves to read -- especially anything Hawkeye recommends -- but she's not bookish, a California outdoorsy girl, loves music, is smart as her daddy, and a bra-burning feminist in her teens. She's a Gemini, caught between the safe suburbs and the big wide world that excites her.
BTW, I like the earth...

And, earth, so: green for your room, with wood furniture, and gauzy curtains to brighten things up a bit. See what asking the internets gets you? (Probably lousy advice, actually, but still.)

Date: 2010-04-13 02:56 am (UTC)I love my Erin already. She's a little bit my friend's genius daughter, a bit Margaret, a bit the Spirit of the 60s. I've got two pieces in like, third draft? status. My friend's helping me with multimedia, too -- but i won't say more! It's so much fun to write a post-series BJ/Hawkeye where they're just people. You're on
But I shan't say any more!
I just cleaned my room and rearranged things and got rid of the clutter, it's sooo nice. I dunno if i'm gonna paint, but I'd love a bright, breezy earthy room like that. I do actually have sorta lacy curtains, but they're from college and dark and I hate them. Maybe I'll get new...
