We don't know Erin's birthday is, but we do have an approximation: in GFA, BJ was trying to get home in time for Erin's second birthday. This was after the Memorial Day* trip to the beach (the one that ended with the bus trip), and before the armistice was signed on July 27th. So there's really only a two month window there to start with. And it couldn't have been too close to Memorial Day (because Hawkeye was already in the hospital, and I think had been there for a while, when BJ came to ~~fail to~~ say goodbye, when he thought he was going home), nor could it have been too close to the end of the war (because Hawkeye was out of the hospital before the end of the war, I think by a bit, and again, BJ came to ~~fail to~~ say goodbye to him when he was inside). So, her birthday HAS to be in June or July, and is PROBABLY somewhere between mid-June and mid-July.

And when I get home, I shall rewatch GFA and see if I can pull anything more concrete out of it. Because, really, I have no actual life. :-)

*Note: Memorial Day was Saturday, May 30th in 1953; it wasn't until 1971 that it was moved to always being on a Monday.

June must be the month. If Peggy was 8 months pregnant in late May, Erin must have been born in June, unless she was really really late. They're anniversary is something like May 18th or 21st, right? I remember it's just a few days to one side of my birthday, which is the 20th.

First of all, their anniversary is May 23rd. I know this, because it's MY birthday, and--like you, apparently ;-)--I'm a big enough geek to be thrilled by it.

And yes, she was born in '51. I tend to use June 14th, 1951 as her birthday when I write, because it's the same as my mom's (day/month/year), which makes it easier for me to figure out how old she would have been when: I'm too bad at math to figure it out easily, so using my mom's b-day allows me to just yell in to her "Mom? How old were you [insert year/time/event/etc. here]?" *g*

My mom is April 20, 51, and I'm May 20, 81. Convenient math ftw. :D I'm always one year less than whatever year, plus ten or twenty or whatever decades. ... It makes sense if you've been doing this math for 28 years. :D

Anyway, I'm making her a nice even June 20, because everyone in my family is Something 20 so it's easy to remember.

I need more icons! It's hard to get good bases out of these old pictures. I like my Margaret, she's rather scrumptious and pinuppy, ie the person who made it went with the poor quality instead of resisted it. I really like the Hawkeye you used for your icon, he looks so laidback and natural in that pic.

*nods* after looking up B.J. on Wikipedia and the Korean war, and reading that comment ^ again, we could probably safely assume that Erin was born in June, as the ceasefire was signed on July 27 of 1953. So if Peggy was eight months along in May, but BJ could have been there in time for Erin's second bday shortly before the end of the war, late June, early July would work best for her birthday.

The evidence is stacking up for June 15-30. I think July is too late, if she was 8 months gone in May, she'd be like two weeks overdue by July. Which, i guess, sometimes happened... (I'd be the angriest whale ever if I was 9.5 months pregnant in a California summer before the invention of air conditioning.)

depends if the eight months pregnant in May applies to the beginning or end of May. If she reached the eighth month toward the end of May, a birthday around July 1 to 10th would be reasonable.

Sorry, but i just can't see my Miss Erin as a cancer. My girl loves to read -- especially anything Hawkeye recommends -- but she's not bookish, a California outdoorsy girl, loves music, is smart as her daddy, and a bra-burning feminist in her teens. She's a Gemini, caught between the safe suburbs and the big wide world that excites her.

*snickers* The "trust me" was actually in reference to the wedding date. But, as long we've somehow gotten on the subject...I didn't say Erin was a Cancer. If anything, using my date-of-choice (though yours works well too, and for the same reason) makes her a Gemini (which I know, because I base her birthday on my mom's, and I know that my mom and i are both Geminis...the twins, doncha know ;-)).

And also...oh, I think I'm going to adore your Erin. I'm very much looking forward to anything you write with her. *g*

mashfanficchick says is true, except for one thing. The trip to the beach in GFA is July 4th. As a result, I've always assumed Erin's b-day is late July or perhaps August.

On the other hand, you can make up whatever you want! I've given Erin a b-day in winter in one fic, just because I wanted to. LOL.
