Wow, I've missed a lot, haven't I?

OK, so, I know it's over, and I know I'm sticking my head in, and I know I may be a shit stirrer .... but I gotta say this. And I only gotta say this because it's over and so on and so forth .... although if people are still sore, and therefore cannot construe this as a joke, I totally get it, and a) accept any flames/attacks/rolls-of-eyes/general ignoringness as my due and b) deeply, deeply apologise.

But I think a sign of maturity is the ability to laugh at oneself. And I certainly don't think I'd like to be associated with a place where people can't laugh at themselves. *raises flag of hope. 'Cos I believe in us*

So. Whilst I will keep my own thoughts to myself, I will say ... this whole thing just reminded me of this. Which y'all should have seen anyway. ^^

The really relevant passages (if you don't want to read through the whole thing, cos it is kinda long.) are near the end. But the whole thing is just funny even without any kind of correlation.

House! My main fandom of the moment--I write so much there, and I keep slipping into character unintentionally when talking to people. House himself is snarky, sarcastic, and definitely not nice, and he can be very critical in an utterly non-constructive manner.

Ahhh. *grins* I watched about three episodes of that ... and then moved, got Sky, and haven't found it since. *sighs* I really feel like I'm missing out.

Although I can totally see where this might be a problem. House might be cool, and have a huge cane, but maketh friends he does not. (Although if my friends are anything to go by, apparently screaming fangirls .... XD)

Although I think the M*A*S*H wank reaction on my part was mostly shock. I forgot the monkeys can get everywhere ...

Fandom is so fun! It's like you said--keep a sense of humor. We made Fandom Wank once, and comments by two friends and I were directly cited. We laughed at ourselves and moved on.

The lack of high-speed is very sad, because it's harder to get the episodes without it--though not impossible.

I saw the posts and went, "Whoa. When'd we explode THAT much?" And then I read them and laughed.

And ... fun? I would say entertaining, actually... No, no, actually, fun is good.

We did! Someone posted an open letter before their comments on an episode on one of the House communities (a general community), and the letter read something like, "Please stop with the gay." For obvious reasons (I'm not only a slasher, but I'm also bi), I rather took offense and commented telling the poster so--then posted on my journal, which got others involved. My friends who were also linked to were rather unimpressed by the open letter.

Aww, friend-wank over emotional stuff? That's a little sad. I do try to avoid that as best as I can.

I do know of an alternative. I may or may not have episodes that can be put on CDs and mailed, and have a fast enough connection that getting others isn't a problem.

One of the friends who responded (and was wanked) is straight. A lot of people objected on principle. Plus, one of the producers of House (Brian Singer) is gay, so the "stop with the gay" thing was...rude, to say the least.

Aw, man. I do my best to avoid that, especially the "emo-tional" part. It's not always easy, though.
