Oh, in addition: why do people think their childhood memories are sacred somehow? It's the same reason everybody in the Doctor Who old school fandom refuses to believe the Doctor has even an inkling of sexuality and has a visceral reaction to any form of sexuality. "I watched it as a kid, so I can't sexualize it"? Hell, if there's Space Cases slash then MASH is free-range. /rant

I am Doctor Who old school fandom. And I thought I was one of those people... until Captain Jack popped up and the Doctor started flirting with him. Then I realised I was just waiting for the right... chemistry. (Also, I'm shallow, shallow, shallow.)

Tbh me and my (also old-school DW fan) boi were talking about it and we thought that it's actually the minority that think like that, they're just the most outspoken about it and the rest of us have learned it's just not worth the energy arguing with them.
But if they can love a program that much for that length of time and be that closed-minded about it... they've not learned anything from that program, and they've not got the right to be Whovians :D
