My first 5-minute fic. Be gentle. (well, more like 10 mins...)
She was angry. She was on a warpath to Captain Hunnicut's death. The snake in her bed had been one thing, but snakes in her shirt pockets-- BJ would die by her own two fists, with snakes in his foaming mouth if she could help it.
It was morning in Korea. The sun was beating down, but the air was still fresh and cool from the night. Really a beautiful fall morning. Inmates at the 4077th were slothing about, not really noticing that the air was practically sparkling.
But that could have been the dust.
Margaret Houlihan burst into the Swamp, stomped over to BJ's cot and threw back the covers. But there was no body under them. Had he already gone to breakfast? Someone here would know... Mergaret peered over at Hawkeye's cot, which was unmistakably occupied. The lumpy mass heaved steadily underneath its blanket, twitching now and then. Completely at peace.
She didn't like it. Yanking the cover off his head, she inhaled in preparation to yell. But what she saw before her made her catch her breath, and drop the snakes.
Two naked men. Lying in the same cot. Too close for comfort. She almost did yell from sheer shock, but something else caught her attention. The look on their faces was one of total happiness and peace, and the corners of their lips were turned ever-so slightly upwards toward the sky.
It reminded her of something she couldn't put her finger on. The strange looks they gave eachother, their ease with eachother, the energy that radiated between them--it all had the same glow.
Slowly, she placed the cover back over their sleeping forms, as a mother would her babes, and placed the snakes on BJ's cot. She looked up at the sky as she shut the door behind her.
What right did God have to form beauty out of chaos? What right did the sky have to shine blue today?

That sort of made me giggle. As they are both laying down, I imagined their lips literally turning up toward the sky -- making the end effect look as if their lips were peeling on their faces. Sorry.
Farewell.
