This is my response to loneraven's challenge for a five-minute piece, sent out over the mash_slash mailing list. I t actually took me more then five minutes (though under ten), and is more or less free association. Coherence is not easily spotted.

Sonnet: The River

loneraven has started issuing five-minute challenges on the [mash-slash] Y! group again.

This took more than five minutes, which -- from me -- is sort of traditional. It's a sonnet, which -- from me -- is sort of traditional as well. And they never quite manage to get it together, which -- from me -- is perhaps most traditional of all.
Pairing should be evident.
