Okay, I understand that I really don't have a lot of say in this, since, though I am a huge MASH fan who does write fic, I do not write fic very often, and I also don't post comments very often, though I do read basically everything everyone posts in here.
As a person who DOES love, enjoy and write fic, I know how...scary or stressful and what not it can be to post something of yours online. I get totally intimidated myself, that's why I keep most of my fics to myself.
But at the same time, I find it reaaalllly puts a damper on reading something when the person who wrote it opens with something to the tune of "Wow I hate myself, this piece of writing I have put on display is such a load of crap." I mean, being unsure of yourself is totally natural. But don't assume that we (the reading-of-fic community) is uninterested or angry or apathetic to see the presence of new fic! I LOVE it when people post to this community, and I LOVE that it has been so active lately!
I don't mean anyone specifically it's just something I've noticed from my time silently watching this community.
The thing is, I love slash, and I love reading fics, and pretty much everything that everyone posts here is really quality stuff! Don't make me (and others) question your talent before we even read your writing, people!
I hope I wasn't being out of line with this post. It just really makes me sad to see people undermining their ability and bashing themselves when the writing is great.
