With all of the fic floating around lately, and some of us grappling for inspiration, I think it would be kind of cool for the community to do a little exchange.

I'm a member of [livejournal.com profile] ci_slash, and sometimes for the holidays or spring or Halloween or something, they do a fic exchange, and I'm not sure how it technically works, but here is the gist:

Everyone who wants to participate fills out a form with the pairing they'd like and the rating they'd like, but they keep it secret from everyone else. The moderators/supervisors of the exchange mix the entries up and assign a fic challenge to everybody, but nobody's allowed to tell who they got. At the end of the set time period (I think [livejournal.com profile] ci_slash allows three weeks?), everyone posts the fic, along with who they wrote it for, and you've not only got a fic written for everybody, but the entire community gets to share in the love!

As a bonus, you may get the chance to work with a pairing you wouldn't normally tackle, and this can get you a little practice in characterization you wouldn't normally touch.

What do you think?

EDIT: The response to this has been awesomely positive! [livejournal.com profile] arrogance, if it's all right with you, I'd like to take over this thing. I wanted to ask you, because this is your community, but if you don't think it's too presumptuous, I wouldn't mind at all. (Of course if you want it GO FOR IT!)
