Well, okay, so there are some exceptions. But most people, when faced with something like, say, Ernie/Bert from Sesame Street, will shudder a bit and feel like they need to go take a shower. Never mind that it's blatantly obvious or anything, but there's something about keeping their childhood memories unspoiled that lots of people seem to like. :p

And see, while I'll snicker at Ernie/Bert, I also shudder--but that's because the squick there is bringing sex onto Sesame Street. M*A*S*H already had sex. Lots of sex. Mostly implied sex, but it was definitely there.

And so while I understand the idea that "sexualizing treasured childhood program = squick," if you want to keep M*A*S*H a sex-free zone, you need to not watch it after the age of twelve....

Good point. I never really intended to side with the people who are squicked by M*A*S*H slash, but I was just trying to say that I see their (slightly ignorant) POV. :p

Ernie/Bert is squicky because it's puppet!slash, first off, and puppets are creepy when looked at in that light. Besides that, even though it is obvious, Sesame Street is completely a kids' program, and MASH was intended for an adult audience.

Well, maybe I didn't pick a very good example then. Whoops.

Wow, I sounded rather bitchy in my last comment. Apologies.

Not a problem! I guess I was just trying to cause a bit of trouble... :p
