Recommendations Week: Day 5 - Intelligent

Apologies to all. My boonie internet is semi-reliable at best, and yesterday and last night it was down. Anyways, shall we continue where we left off?

Yesterday's Today's theme is intelligent. These are the stories that made you think, taught you something, made you want to learn/research into a subject, etc. Basically, something you never expected from a fan fic. I know it's a bit confusing, but basically discuss stories that amazed you in the depth of detail and quality.

If I had to recommend a single story from this fandom, it would be this one, without a doubt. I include it in this category because of the depth of research of geography, warfare, and history that Mariole adds into the story. Don't let that fool you, though; the story is still very much about the characters. There are two parallel arcs - one is Hawkeye's story, the other is of the camp dealing with the hole that Hawkeye's absence leaves behind.

I can't say enough positive things about this story. It's long, it's worth it, it contains some of the most haunting images and memorable lines I've encountered over my years of reading fanfiction. Just read it.

Title: Missing Hawk (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/886659/1/Missing_Hawk)
Author: Mariole
Author's Summary: "Hawkeye disappears after his aid station is overrun. Alternate ending to 'Where There's a Will.'"
Rating: T
Warnings: Mariole warns for "intense situations." It's graphic and gritty, but realistic, not over-the-top.
