(no subject)

I need to know everything that you know about Mulcahy when he was younger. Basically, everything canon about him before he came to the M*A*S*H unit. Pleeeease. It would mean a great deal to me especially if you like Hawkahy I SAID NOTHING. Thanks in advance!

I'm not a big Hawkcahy fan, but here's what I remember off the top of my head.

-He was a spin-the-bottle champion.
-His sister the Sister was a Girl Scout and made an apple pie out of...something strange. Crabapples, maybe.
-Their mother swore in front of the kids at least once.
-He grew up in Philadelphia.
-He boxed at the seminary.
-I think he was a Jesuit, but I'm not sure.

I'll let you know more as I think of it. [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticsra might know more than I do about Mulcahy.

..He was catholic?

HE was small as a child and wore pretty thick glasses. Other kids would make fun of him. His heros were Plato and... that boxer in that one episode...

*face palm*

Someone fill that in, eh?

I know little to nothing about Mulcahy, but your icon is the best thing ever in the whole of today.

His sister's name is sometimes Katherine, and sometimes Angelica. (Perhaps Angelica is her "nun-name?"

He has many brothers and at least one sister. His father took him to see that boxer who ended up having a stroke at the 4077th when he was a boy. He has a scar on his toe from when his sister bit him. That's all I got for now...but I'm watching the whole series over, so whatever he mentions I'll see again.

The boxer his father took him to see when he was (12?) was Gentleman Joe Kavanaugh, who became the young Francis's other hero (next to Plato) because he told the referee to declare the fight at an end - Gentleman Joe was hitting his opponent where he pleased, and Joe said "He's had enough".

(Which tells us that he was reading Plato before he was 12 - my guess is, in the Jowett translations, but that's just a guess.)

He tells Charles that he comes from a long line of factory workers, that he likes to relax with a beer and listen to sports, and that he was once thrown out of his seminary dorm for snoring.

It seems highly improbable, but everything he's said in the series suggests he's a Jesuit.

His ID number begins RA, Regular Army, which means he must have signed up for at least three years.

He has several brothers, and he used to have to share a bed with them.
