+ $.02

To tell the truth, I've never been satisfied with this fandom. In the "hay day" of the Yahoo! group, I was in a state of constant annoyance. Like in every fandom, the OTPs received the most feedback. Also, we had BNFs. If there is anything I hate, it is BNF-ism. It is such junior high bullshit. Not to sound like Karl Marx, but there were the Haves and the Have Nots. The BNFs and OTPers were the Haves and the "rare" shippers were the Have Nots.

The tiny revival on lj was close to perfection, but we were so few in numbers, and nobody really gave and feedback.

This recent restart has started an all-out gang war-- except really flamboyant. Kinda like West Side Story.

Let me ask you all-- can't we all just get along? Without a caste system? Without favoritism?

I propose equality. Everyone is equal. Nobody is a n00b and nobody is a snob. It'll be like Communism, minus the whole evil dictator thing.

Whaddaya say?

I know there is the issue of Just for Fun Fic and Great Literary Masterpiece Fic and feedback.

Umm, dude? This is why we have that little patch of writing before the story. Just write what type of fic you have written and specify how you would like to receive feedback, if any at all.

Not bitchy. Truthful.

I think what has to happen is that both parts of the fandom at large need to realize that the other side exists and deserves to exist. One side can't force their ideals or standards on the other and vice versa. I don't think there's anything wrong with people saying "this is what I want to read in a fic" or "this is what I expect from a fic" ... BUT ... they also have to realize that not everyone is going to write their own fics based on someone else's standards. Some may ... some may not. I always assumed that's what the Author's Note was for at the beginning of a fic. To let people know what to expect from the fic ... and if it doesn't fit into their "ideal" fic category, then they can choose not to read it. I do it all the time in other fandoms.

This fandom is very small and pretty inactive. I, personally, am just happy that it exists and that there are some author's out there willing to write M*A*S*H fics!

Hopefully that made sense ... if not, I am pretty sick right now. Got the flu. Can't seem to kick it ...
