For several reasons involving changes LJ is making to its usability, the mod squad is sadly announcing its resignation. If you would like to take over, please leave a comment, and a mod will get in touch with you with our decision.

It's been a good run, mash_slash, and I'll deeply miss you.

Movie vs TV Show

Thu, 14 Jun 2012 21:00:00 GMT

Posted by: dago-red53.livejournal.com

Does any one ever use the movie version of the characters in their fics? I grew up watching the TV show, but I find that I use the movie characters for most of my fics, which were based on the original book.

I checked the rules and it's not forbidden :)
I know this is not directly related to the show, but maybe some of the writers would be interested in joining? :)
Thank you!

Drabble-esque: Never Ask, 13+

Mon, 27 Feb 2012 21:29:00 GMT

Posted by: majik-16.livejournal.com

Title: Never Ask
Author: majik_16
Pairing: BJ/Hawkeye (implied), BJ/Peg
Rating: 13+
Warnings: Nothing scary here, I promise!
Disclaimer: Hah! If only...
Author's Notes: My first fic, figured I'd start short with a drabble. I've been reading a lot of BJ/Hawkeye fics, and I started wondering what Peg would think of it all, or if she'd even ask, or even want to know. Constructive criticism is appreciated!

P.S. Sorry to the mods if this is not allowed, and can I get an author tag, please?

Searching for fanfic

Sun, 12 Feb 2012 22:52:00 GMT

Posted by: tristripe.livejournal.com

Hello! I don't know if anyone can help me but I am actually searching for a particular fanfic. At least 7 or so years ago I read a fanfic about Radar. At the time I did not even know of the existence of MASH. Unfortunately since its been such a long time I can't remember the title or the authors name.

What I DO remember was the Radar was paired with an OC male, and that they were in a relationship when a minor character (I THINK he was a minor character) came to and went after Radar. It was a hurt comfort fic.

I know that this isn't much to go on, but it's like thef fic disappeared from the net!

It's because of that particular fic that I gained an interest in MASH and now years later have finally gotten to watch some episodes and fallen in love with the show.

Fic search - modern AUs

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone knows of any Trapper/Hawkeye or Hawkeye/BJ stories set in the present. (As in, they're all working together in a hospital in the US, etc.) Thanks in advance. :)

queer_bigbang is open for signups. It's just what it sounds like: it's a Big Bang for writing queer pairings. They don't have to be canon; subtextual is fine (hey there, MASH, one of the queerest shows ever!). Minimum word count is 10k, so it's not bad for a Big Bang.

Clerical Error [Hawkeye/Trapper]

Wed, 28 Dec 2011 22:06:00 GMT

Posted by: dobbinn.livejournal.com

Title: Clerical Error
Author: dobbin
Pairing: Hawkeye/Trapper
Rating: T
Warnings: Some slash, obviously.
Disclaimer: I can only wish.
Author's Notes: First time writing M*A*S*H fic, constructive criticism is adored! Also, I apologize for not knowing how LJ formatting works at all...
Summary: Based off of "The Late Captain Pierce." What would have happened if Daniel Pierce had written Trapper as soon as the army informed him Hawkeye was "dead?"

Tagging and interesting stats

Fri, 23 Dec 2011 15:35:00 GMT

Posted by: likethesun2.livejournal.com

Hi, guys!

subluxate asked me to work on tagging posts/standardizing the tagging system for the community, and I've just finished going through the archives. You can see the current full tag list here. If anyone has any suggestions for new tags that would be particularly helpful, or for any changes to existing ones, I'm all ears! Also, I know that some people's usernames have changed over the years; if you'd like your author/artist tag changed, or if I've listed two usernames for the same person and you'd like them merged, or whatever, please let me know.

Anyway, going through nine years' worth of posts was quite a project, but mostly I was just really impressed by the volume and variety of what people have been doing here during that time. Some stats I found interesting:

--There are 569 separate posts tagged as fanfiction. Rock on.

--Hawkeye/BJ is the most frequently written slash pairing (at 318 posts, holy CRAP, y'all), followed by Hawkeye/Trapper at 159. Hawkeye/Mulcahy is a rather distant third (22), followed by Hawkeye/Sidney (19), and Frank/Trapper and Hawkeye/Radar (11 each).

--The most frequently written het pairing is BJ/Peg (20); the most frequently written not-100%-canon het pairing is Margaret/Charles (17).

--Pairings involving series regulars/recurring characters with only 1 post each (take this as a challenge?):

BJ/Sidney
Charles/Peg
Charles/Sidney
Frank/Spearchucker
Hawkeye/BJ/Charles
Hawkeye/The Duke
Hawkeye/Flagg
Hawkeye/Mulcahy/Trapper
Hawkeye/Peg
Hawkeye/Potter
Hawkeye/Trapper/Margie Cutler
Henry/Lorraine
Margaret/Donald
Margaret/Radar
Mulcahy/Trapper
Trapper/Captain Spaulding (the early-seasons Loudon Wainwright III character)
Trapper/Henry

I don't know how many people would be interested, but I created mash_slash on Dreamwidth. I know we aren't the most active of communities, but having the option seemed a good idea to me. I will still be maintaining this one, with the wonderful assistance of gamesiplay on tags in particular, but the option on Dreamwidth is now there. Members are more than welcome to post in both places, should you so choose.

(All the info, profile and such, will be entered later, when yours truly doesn't have the death.)

Title: Saturday Morning

Author: LaDonnaErrante

Pairing: BJ/Hawkeye implied

Rating13+

Warnings: none
Disclaimer: I do not own M*A*S*H

Summary: Hawkeye and his oldest son look through an old photo album.

Author's Notes: This was impromptu, written quickly and unbeta'd. It was inspired by, of all things an "FML" post:

"Today, I was looking through some old family pictures for a scrapbook I'm making. I found images of my dad passed out in his underwear, my great-grandpa having a drunken bath, and an unidentified moustachioed man sitting on the toilet, giving the photographer the finger. FML"

Unidentified Mustachioed Man screamed BJ to me and this was the result.
